At McClung Companies, quality comes first. We pride ourselves in ensuring that the ten thousandth print of a product comes out looking just as good as the very first print. The Speedmaster CD 74 printer is a cost-effective printing solution for jobs that require small format print products like covers, brochures, and postcards which often require printing on two sides in four to five colors. It is the ideal printing press for handling multiple small to medium print jobs like catalogs and magazines without compromising quality, cost and waste. Along with a skilled operator, the machine is equipped with software (access control) that supports quality control. This machine’s new access control system, Prinect control system, and coating system allows us to do that.

The Speedmaster CD 74 offset printing machine enables us to accommodate a wide range of printing stocks and colors without compromising quality or increasing run times, even when printing on thicker paper stock, or running at its full operating speed of 15,000 sheets per hour. The machine allows a maximum size of 23 x 29 inches and a minimum size of 8 1/4 x 13 3/4 inches. It is a five color printing press with aqueous coating capabilities. It operates mainly within 4 main color units: black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. However, it is also able to offer the option of printing using special colors through the use of access control technology.

Here’s How We Do It.

The access control system allows our employees to scan color bars and pinpoint colors specific to our clients needs. Color bars tell us the ink density that is needed to print on thicker stock like cardboard, postcards, and magazines while maintaining consistent color quality.

The Prinect press control system decreases the possibility of user error for our employees. Everything is able to be controlled centrally via the touchscreen monitor. By increasing user friendliness, our employees don’t have to interrupt runs to make changes to the settings. “Once everything is dialed into the press, you don’t have to worry about hiccups in the middle”, said Matt Perkins, a pressman employee at McClung Companies.

Finally, the adjoining coating system permits our customers with the ability to broaden their portfolio. With businesses needing to differentiate themselves from their competitors now more than ever, this printing press is an asset to companies seeking to set their brand apart from others while maintaining quality, time efficiency, cost-efficiency, and cutting waste. McClung Companies is committed to providing quality products and services to our customers. The Speedmaster CD 74 assists us in doing that.
