02/27/2008 | Huffman Honered for 60 Years of Service |
(Waynesboro, VA) Woody Huffman was honored for his 60 years of service during the annual meeting of McClung Companies. Tom Trevillian, President and CEO of McClung, congratulated Huffman for his extraordinary career which ranged from pressman to plant manager to delivery person.
Huffman's deceased wife Maxine helped him get his job at McClung soon after the company was founded, as she was the sister of the owner Charles McClung. When Charles died in 1971, Woody became general manager. In 1988 Woody decided to retire, but found that he needed something to keep him busy. He came back to McClung part-time in delivery, where he still works today.
"Woody has taught us all a great work ethic and devotion to graphic arts," said Trevillian. Huffman's "go get it" attitude is still present today with long-term McClung employees that he trained. In honor of Huffman's service to McClung, the recently completed pressroom has been named the M.E. Huffman Building.
Woody and his wife Macy live in Waynesboro. He enjoys gardening, fishing and woodworking, as well as his two grandchildren. |

(Waynesboro, VA) Chris Pugh, digital press operator, was recently chosen Employees of the Quarter at McClung Companies. Established in 1992, the award is based on recommendations from fellow workers and recognizes McClung employees who display extraordinary dedication to their jobs.
"Chris is willing to tackle new challenges and learn digital press technology," noted Dave Perkins, McClung Vice President. "He went off-site for advanced training and his extra effort has paid off. Chris adds lots of life to McClung's digital division and his positive attitude is appreciated."
Pugh has worked two years at McClung and lives in Staunton.

02/11/2008 | McClung Recognizes Employee of the Year |
(Waynesboro, VA) Richard Hummel, pressroom coordinator, won the highly coveted Edmond McCutcheon Award. The honor is presented annually to the McClung Employee of the Year to memorialize the loyalty and dedication of its namesake to the company. Established in 1995, the award is based on recommendations from fellow workers.
"Receiving the Edmond McCutcheon Award is a testament to Richard's loyalty and dedication," said Dave Perkins, McClung Vice President. "He has been recognized by his peers for his personal and professional growth here at McClung. Richard also went the extra mile this past year when we had a large volume of work. With his dedication and reliability, he excelled in meeting our customers' needs during a challenging time."
